Abstract: The current article presents the practice-based protocol based on the positive and transcultural psychotherapy (PPT, after Peseschkian, since 1977) and employing the Balance model in order to improve emotional well-being and achieve psychic balance in group trauma treatment. This protocol is considered to be a practice-based procedure combining expressive (drawing), sensory (molding) and reflective exercises in four areas: body, work/success, contact and spirituality. The proposed protocol involves engaging the patient in recalling his/her positive experiences in each of four domains, externalizing them in creative activity and then going through the stages of cognitive and somatic processing of emotions. According to the clinical observations and reflections of participants, the suggested protocol could contribute to the emotional stabilization and integration of trauma experiences in a group setting.
Concerning its potential use in trauma-informed psychotherapy, the protocol is an efficient practice-oriented tool based on Positive Psychotherapy. As for the contribution to trauma literature, the novelty of this protocol lies in considering emotional stability as an instrument for promoting change.
