Abstract: This paper aims to present a treatment model for anorexia nervosa (AN) and bulimia nervosa (BN) using Transcultural Positive Psychotherapy (PPT), with particular emphasis on the significance of positum in therapeutic interventions. As observed by Peseschkian, the concept of positum points to what already exists, the given reality of one’s life, and reflects an attitude of acceptance toward life as it is, with its inherent resources and limitations. The Principle of positum is one of the core foundations of PPT; it assumes that an individual seeking help brings to therapy not only symptoms and difficulties but also personal resources and capacities that may not yet be used constructively. By facilitating access to the positum, therapists help patients reconnect with self-compassion, identity, and autonomy beyond the illness narrative. This paper presents selected cases of anorexia nervosa (AN) and bulimia nervosa (BN) to analyze the effectiveness of therapeutic procedures consistent with PPT’s main principles and tools.
