Election of the New WAPP Executive Board 2027-2028 –
Electronic Voting Begins on Monday, 14th of September 2026!
Dear WAPP Members,
As previously announced, the election for the WAPP Executive Board for the term 2027-2028 is underway. The term of the new Board starts in 1 January 2027 and ends on 31 December 2028. These democratic elections provide a unique opportunity for members to select their future lead-ership directly.
This year, we received a total of 47 nominations—thank you for showing your trust and confidence in these candidates! Of those nominated, 24 individuals from 15 different countries have ac-cepted their nominations, while others declined for personal reasons. But they asked us to convey their gratitude to the nominators.
You are now invited to vote for seven (7) of these 24 candidates. The seven candidates with the highest number of votes will become our new Board members. Following the election, the Board will internally elect or appoint its officers, including the chairperson/president and other roles.
Please note that according to WAPP bylaws § 6 (13) c., “no more than two members of the Execu-tive Board may be from the same country. If a person moves to another country, he/she must be either licensed or recognized by the professional body of that country in order to be counted for that country. The representative of the Peseschkian-Foundation is not counted. If more than two persons from the same country should be elected, the two with the highest number of votes will become members of the Executive Board; while the others from the same country will become advisory members of the Board without active or passive voting rights. The person(s) from another country with the next highest number of votes shall then move up for the Executive Board.”
Voting Process:
The election will be conducted exclusively through electronic voting. You will receive an individual email from our election platform, “Election Runner,” containing a unique election link and voter ID. Please use this link and ID to submit your vote.
Eligibility:
Voting is open to all full, associate, and institutional WAPP members who have paid their mem-bership fees for 2026 or at least for 2025. Institutional member representatives (Centers or Asso-ciations) will also receive a second email with a unique voter ID to cast the institutional vote.
Voting Period:
- Start: Monday, 14 September 2026, 00:01 CEST
- End: Wednesday, 30 September 2026, 23:59 CEST

Additional Information on the Board’s Work and Current Members:
The Executive Board is elected every two years. Serving on the Board is a voluntary role, and mem-bers, including the chairperson, do not receive any financial compensation. The Board meets monthly via Zoom, and only travel expenses are reimbursed for in-person meetings.
The Board functions as a collective decision-making body, with the WAPP Head Office and the chairperson carrying out its decisions. This role involves regular tasks and responsibilities, such as consulting, discussions, and decision-making on matters related to Positive Psychotherapy worldwide—covering areas like training standards, psychotherapy regulations, scientific re-search, publications, and membership issues.
Board members are not delegates or representatives of their country. What matters are their qualifications, experience, personality, and ability to lead an international association.
Expectations of Board Members:
- Commit to attending Board meetings and participate actively in all Board-related work.
- Represent the interests of the entire global community, not just their country.
- Prepare thoroughly for meetings, stay informed about WAPP matters, and review minutes and reports, and communicate regularly by email with the WAPP Head Office
- Work actively as chairperson on one of the committees.
- Build collegial relationships with fellow Board members to foster productive consensus.
- Uphold WAPP’s bylaws and the Ethical Guidelines of Positive Psychotherapy.
A Board member should expect to contribute, at least, an average of 4 hours per week for the work of the Board. English is the official language of WAPP; if a candidate is not fluent, they should have support at home to assist with correspondence. WAPP provides translations during meet-ings if needed.
