World Association for Positive and Transcultural Psychotherapy (WAPP)

The World Association for Positive and Transcultural Psychotherapy is the international umbrella organization of Positive Psychotherapy. It consists of national associations, national and regional training institutes, centers, representative offices and individual members.

It was founded by Prof. Nossrat Peseschkian as International Center of Positive Psychotherapy (ICPP) in 1996. In January 2008, it was decided to re-name it to World Association for Positive Psychotherapy. In 2016 the term “transcultural” was added to underline the transcultural basis of Positive Psychotherapy.

The World Association for Positive and Transcultural Psychotherapy (WAPP) is registered as a non-profit-organization in Wiesbaden, Germany, since 1996.

WAPP promotes the theory, method and practice of Positive Psychotherapy. It is engaged in the training of postgraduate professionals in psychotherapy, family therapy and counseling all over the world.

In addition, WAPP organizes workshops, lectures, conferences and seminars pertaining to the different aspects of Positive Psychotherapy as well as transcultural exchange of theories, techniques and research. Our work is in accordance with the Strasbourg Declaration on Psychotherapy.

WAPP and its affiliated institutions are members of the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP), the World Council for Psychotherapy (WCP), and the World Federation for Psychotherapy (WFP).

Board of Directors of the World Association for Positive and Transcultural Psychotherapy (WAPP) 2022-2024

WAPP is represented by a Board of Directors. The members of the Board are elected every two years by the WAPP members and serve as a collective organ. They work on a voluntary basis and meet monthly for consultation on all issues concerning Positive Psychotherapy and the work of WAPP.
